Ana

I have a degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro since
2012. On my graduation I worked with collection and identification of planktonic organisms
from several locations of Brazilian coast. Crustacean larvae spatial and temporal variation
was my study object on my monograph.

From 2013 to 2015, I was attending my MBA of Environmental Planning and Management at
Universidade Veiga de Almeida, my final project is about the development of
environmental laws in Brazil and the difficult of monitoring and punishing those responsible
for environmental crimes.

Now, in 2015, I’m beggining my masters in Ecology at Universidade Federal do Rio de
Janeiro. My project aims to verify the progression of algal cover on corals of Arraial do Cabo,
Rio de Janeiro. In addition this project focuses on predicting the future of coral reefs in this
region, taking for granted that will not be taken mitigating measures against degradation.

I am interested in investigate the ecological relationships in Brazilian reefs, as well as
studying the effects of degradation of marine environments on the interactions between
organisms and brazilian corals.

My main purpose behind all the research is alarming society of the importance of this
ecosystem and how degraded we are leaving it. That mitigating measures should be taken
and the main degrading activities should be intensively monitored. Maybe one day propose
more effective conservation projects.
