The Long-Term Ecological Monitoring Program in the Oceanic Islands (PELD ILOC) promoted during the 26th to the
29th of April the 1st course on monitoring techniques in reef environments, held virtually due to the COVID-19
pandemic. There were 17 lectures that addressed the candidates’ previous preparations to go to the islands, how
to act in cases of accidents, and all the collection protocols of the 19 objectives of the PELD ILOC. The 83 enrolled
in the course also had the opportunity to learn about peculiar characteristics of the islands, in addition to discussing
the latest results of research carried out in the last year.

A week of great learning for participants who are now able to participate in expeditions to oceanic islands.
