Publications: Using an educational video-briefing to mitigate the ecological impacts of scuba diving
A new paper from LECAR Lab is online in Journal of Sustainable Tourism. In this paper, we tested the use of an
educational video-briefing to mitigate the ecological impacts of scuba diving. The video was produced in
collaboration with environmental agencies and diving stakeholders. Messages and tips about low-impact diving are
provided. Divers who watched the video before dive reduced the number of contacts with benthic organisms
significantly. The use a video-briefing is suggested as a low-cost, easily interpreted, standardized approach to
mitigate the ecological impacts of scuba diving. The content is free available on the web:
